The Operational Management Seminar Series
In every company, profits are generated by operations and everything that affects operations, affects profitability. The objective of the Operational Management Seminar Series is to provide business owners, executives and professional advisors with the operational management training necessary in today's competitive world. On this basis, the seminar series has been developed as a comprehensive, detailed training program designed to provide an in depth understanding of both the underlying principles of operational management and the specific techniques and procedures utilized to design and implement custom operational management control systems with the specific purpose of increasing bottom line profitability. Participants will learn the philosophies, acquire the knowledge and develop the operational management skills required to identify impediments to maximizing profitability, to develop answers to these profitability problems and to implement specific solutions.
The Operational Management Seminar Series has been designed and developed to:
  • Present and explain the variety of financial, operational and organizational philosophies underlying excellent business management practices;
  • Provide the knowledge necessary to discover and highlight operational problems that reduce profitability and to identify incremental profit opportunities;
  • Teach the techniques and develop the operational management skills required to design, develop and effectively implement "situation specific" solutions to these problems which result in substantial improvements in profitability.
This is a micro level course of instruction designed with an emphasis to provide not only actionable instruction and knowledge, but also the hands on skills and abilities that can be immediately applied to increase profitability. As an integral part of the training curriculum, participants will be required to demonstrate their understanding of the presented material by developing specific plans, recommendations, forms and procedures to be implemented in their own business situations.
The seminar series in its entirety is designed to cover all aspects of operational management across the entire spectrum of business operations. In order to accommodate participant scheduling requirements as well as to provide flexibility for individuals with specific areas of interest, the structure of the series has been developed in three phases.
 
Phase I - Foundations of Operational Management “An MBA For The Real World”
As the introductory course for the entire operational management series, this three day seminar provides an in-depth presentation of the underlying business principles, management philosophies and the procedural steps necessary to develop, document and implement Operational Management Systems. This seminar covers the core concepts of operational management control and those issues and procedures generally applicable to all business operations. The topics covered (see seminar outline, below) serve to provide a comprehensive understanding of the underlying basics of operational management in general and to provide the framework for the industry specific courses presented in the Phase II Seminars.
 
Phase II - Industry Specific Management Courses
The Phase II seminars are industry specific. Each of them has been individually designed to provide an exhaustive presentation of the specific analytical steps, control concepts and procedures and forms to be utilized in maximizing profitability in each specific type of operation. Armed with the knowledge of the basics presented in Phase I, the Phase II seminars will provide participants step-by-step direction in the application of the underlying principles and procedures to specific industries and operations.
 
Phase III - Additional Operational Topics
The courses in Phase III cover additional important areas of interest to business owners and professional advisors supportive of implementing successful Operational Management Systems.
 
Case Studies And Handouts:
All of the courses utilize extensive case study companies developed from real life consulting engagements. These intricate examples highlight the primary principles presented in the discussions and provide a framework for the participants to practice applying those principles and their newly developed skills in realistic situations.

Each course is supported by its own specially developed manual which includes extensive handouts, checklists, and computer disks with written forms and procedures providing detailed examples relevant to the material covered.
